EAGLE RIDGE

HUDSON VALLEY RIVER CAMP

This campsite sits above the Shawangunk Kill with a broad view of the river and a grassy flat camping area.

Details:

The Eagle Ridge private campsite sits above the Shawangunk Kill. The Shawangunk Kill is known for its clean water, and it teems with life.

The site is an easy 15 to 20 minute walk from the parking area. You will cross the Dwaar Kill by a primitive bridge and continue along a ridge and a private trail to your site.

The site is flat and grassy with a lot of room to lounge. And yes, bald eagles do fly up and down the river, and you are in a great location to see one.

This site is on the far corner of the property. It is the longest walk from the parking area but it is also the site with the most solitude.

The Shawangunk Kill is usually not more that waist deep and is a great spot to float in an innertube or take a dip in a deep spot. You can access the river with a short walk.

Each campsite includes a stone firepit, a supply of firewood for a nominal fee and a portable camp toilet. We follow a carry in/carry out policy to minimize human impact on the forest.

Features:

An Eagle's View

You're high above the Shawangunk Kill with a broad view of the river. You may feel a little like the bald eagles who fly up and down this river.

Privacy

Reach your campsite via a private trail. Enjoy 80 acres of undeveloped forest. Sit by a crackling fire and enjoy the sounds of the river.

Wildlife

On the property you will see bald eagles, woodpeckers, muskrats, and deer, just to name a few. On the river we also see ducks, geese, fish and an elusive beaver or two.
